Las Vegas Neon Boneyard : Part 4

Vegas Recap : Day 4, Part 4

I’ve somehow managed to make the day 4 recap last almost two weeks… now, if I could only use that ability outside of blog world and slow down time, that would be impressive.

This is Shannon, and I LOVED her make-up! I had a blast shooting and processing this fashion bridal.

Video From Red Rock Shoot

Dale Benfield put together this video of all us [b] schoolers when we got together in Vegas out near Red Rock. Thanks Dale for doing that, sometimes I get so caught up in shooting the “subject” I forget about everything around me really being the subject.

I realized two things from watching this video. First, I make a ridiculous face when I’m shooting. It’s like an extremly scrunched face with a smile added in, eek! Second, I should not where a bright green jacket when everyone else is wearing black, I don’t pull of “incognito” and it’s not exactly flattering.

Regardless, the video rocks, check it out.

Anonymous Floss..Couldn’t get the video to play. 🙁

Las Vegas Neon Boneyard : Part 2

Vegas Recap : Day 4, Part 2

Here is a sample of Jessie’s bridal shoot at the Boneyard… I’m keeping this post a little lighter because you’ll be seeing much more of Jessie next week when I post her shoot from a couple days after this one out in Nelson, Nevada, and trust me it’s not to be missed (check out the header for a preview). Until then, enjoy Jessie rockin’ it out with the neon signs.

Rebecca Honeywell The light in the first shot is amazing, and what a pretty bride. Love her hair! Really like the rounded photos in the header too.

March 14, 2009 - 2:31 pm

Amanda Patrice Love love love these! You found such beautiful light, and were able to capture the background in a way that shows the setting, but doesn’t distract from your model. Nice job!

Karen I’ve been checking out all the boneyard shoots. What an awesome location! Beautiful pics Sheila!

Las Vegas Neon Boneyard : Part 1

Vegas Recap : Day 4

By far the highlight for Tuesday was shooting at the Las Vegas Neon Boneyard! A large group of [b] schoolers got together in the afternoon and soaked in the radtastic historic neon signs that once adorned the Vegas strip. The boneyard is split into two seperate lots, both full of old signs, and a few larger than life figures of people, shoes, and skeletons. If any of you ever go to Vegas you should set up an appointment to take a tour, the ladies who run the Boneyard were incredably helpful and are full of amazing tid bits about the history of each sign.

The couple below were so sweet with each other and were a joy to shoot. All Dustin had to do was look into her eyes and Jessica respond with laughter or a kiss, both being equally cute to photograph. Dustin may not consider himself a “model” but that didn’t stop him from rockin this shoot! To add even more excitement to the mix, Jessica has a brand new record out, it’s a pop sound and you should check her out! (I’ll post a link to her album info as soon as I get it)

Ok, these next two go together perfectly!

Don’t forget to leave some loves.

Working Girl to Rockstar

Vegas Recap : Day 3

In general when you go on vacation you remember to pack your camera, and when on a business trip you remember laptops, important papers, or whatever it is that is relevant to work, right? Apparently when I go on a trip that is a business vacation I get a little confused on how that all works. I obviously remembered my big camera for shoots but it slipped my mind that the week would contain a plethora of social events and I should double check that the little camera I carrying in my purse has a charged battery, or at least bring a charger with me!

Seeing as I didn’t do either of those last two things, I had to rely on my housemates and fellow photogs to document the “vacation” aspect of the trip. So, thank you to those that have been uploading photos and tagging them on facebook, next year I promise to do better.

Monday morning Cailyn and I got dressed in our black and white and headed over to the MGM for the first day of the tradeshow to work the Shootsac booth. It never crossed our minds while working to grab a picture, or it might have but the booth stays so busy that at the end of the day our mouths were dry from talking and we just wanted to get out of there and put up our aching feet and down some water (or in Cailyn’s case, Cranberry juice).

So thanks to Chris and Allie who walked by at somepoint and grabbed about 5 seconds of footage on their Flip. This is a screen caputre from their video, which you can see on their blog. Let’s just say, I must have been really into whatever Allie was saying!

UPDATE: it has been pointed out that there is a spelling error in the following image, i’ve never won any spelling bee’s so i’m not surprised but i will try to be more on point when typing in photoshop!

After we headed back to the house and had found our energy again it was time to head out to the [b] school party over at The Palms. The party was up in the famous REAL WORLD suite. I’m not going to lie, I felt a little like a rockstar when we approaced the elevator and we weren’t even allowed on before checking to make sure our names were on the list.

Here we are (Maya, Pat, Chris, Allie, Cailyn & I) in the phone area. MTV did a great job filming the show, that space is tiny compared to how it seemed on tv. Photo by Candice KausHagen.

Here we are again in the official [b] party photo booth, with the addition of Cathy Crawley in the middle. I ordered this print and am anxiously awaiting it’s arrival, I have the perfect frame waiting.
