The beautiful and talented ChrysQ has come up with one of my favorite products of the year!  She is filling a need in the photography world that I didn’t even realize was missing, until of course I discovered her product and wondered how we, the photographers of the world, have been living without it.  She has developed and designed stunning collections of album slipcovers.  These are an amazing way to ensure that your photo albums are not only protected from wear, but are always in style.  You can get a slipcover custom made to match your wedding colors, disguise itself as a designer handbag… the options are limitless.  Yes, I do know there are other slipcover options out there, but do yourself a favor and don’t even bother, ChrysQ is the only designer doing it right!  Bonus to all of this, she is located right here in Dallas, Tx.

So naturally, when I discovered ChrysQ and her hubby BenQ (who is also a talented photographer) were shooting their winter collection in downtown Dallas and inviting other photographers to be a part of it I signed up, and then proceeded to do a happy dance at my laptop.  I had a blast shooting with and learning from the Q’s down at Thrid Space in downtown Dallas in December!  Not that it was a question, but this product is the newest bit of beauty offered to my clients.  So brides, you may want to scope out the ChrysQ slipcover site.

I’m not sure why I love this last one so much, but I just do.  I think it’s because when I look at it I imagine the conversation is going something like this- “It’s crazy I know, I look awesome even on the street with paper snow in my hair!” … “Yeah, you look great babe but I’m hungry.  Is is time to hit up Which Wich yet?”  (Speaking of- Which Wich is a yummy sandwich shop downtown that I am now in love with!)

Take a look at what I’ve been up to…

Not only is she stunning, but to make this photo 10x more exciting, this is one of the first shoots in my brand spankin’ new studio! Well, not new, to be technical, as the building is over 100 years old, but certainly new and fabulous to me.

So, that’s what the blog silence has been about. Busy, busy, busy getting everything set up, moved in, and carefully working on a branding facelift all at the same time.

Next up is a look into my new beautiful industrial loft world, stay tuned.

Tamra & Tyler

What a great shoot this turned out to be!  Originally, this fun retro inspired Day After shoot was scheduled to be at the Texas State Fair, but seeing as Dallas has become the new Seattle, the photo location was redirected to the hip shopping area of Mockingbird Station near downtown.  I’ll be honest, as much fun as the fair would have been, I love everything about how this photo session went.  Just goes to show- just because it’s raining in Dallas doesn’t mean you can’t get great wedding photos and portraits!  Also, a big thanks to Amy Karp for her genius (and generous) organization and idea for this.

If you notice a pattern in some of these it’s no a mistake, I adore Tamra’s 50’s style retro shoes she was sporting for the pictures.  Not to mention that great black pair of awesome Tyler is wearing too!  Double style points to you both.

Meet Sophie, Tamra & Tyler’s adorable pooch.  She was so sweet and obviously a rock star…

With the rain drizziling around us the air was getting chilly, so Tamara took the opportunity to warm up, Tyler got a chance to catch up on the football game playing, and I continued to take pictures of the newlyweds.

The rain picked up a bit so we all headed to the underground parking garage to play with some lighting set ups.  I know it’s strange but I love parking deck photography, there are some many lines to play with!  Bonus Tip: Underground garages tend to have relatively stable temperatures, so if it’s cold out it’s a great place to warm up (and vice-versa during summer months).  So when shooting engagements or bridals and I want the urban feel but weather is less than perfect, don’t be surprised when I ask you to meet me here, it’s for a photographic reason .

I know the rest of these aren’t what most consider “boudoir” but I politely say YOU’RE WRONG!  How amazing would these artistic photos be as little gift cards to her hubby on special occassions, or just because, to remind him of how beautiful she is and also a reminder of their wedding?  Yeah, pretty amazing if you ask me.

PS (and I’m slightly bragging)- That second photo is shot with a backlit flash only, in a dark underground cement area!  Yeah, I love my Canon 5D Mark II…
