Techatticup?  Thankfully I’m able to type this post, because I’m afraid you may stop following my blog if you had to listen to me struggling to pronounce that word.  I may not be able to say Techatticup with ease but I had no difficulty shooting it!  Of course, having the georgous Jessie as the main subject was not so shabby either.

This gem of a location is nesstled right on the edge of Nelson, Nevada, a tiny unsuspecting town about an hour from Vegas and about two minutes before the border of nowhere.  It really was a photographers heaven, I could have spent a week shooting the great old treasures scattered about, it gave a whole new meaning to desert oasis!

This shoot had a bit of everything- fashion, boudoir… and would make an awesome (and one of kind) spot for senior portraits.

Oh dear, I won’t say how long it’s been, although you can scroll down and see the sad truth for yourself, but it has been a dismally long time since my last post.  So where did I disappear to?  I’ve taken some time off, and as nice as a little rest is I can’t explain how much I missed shooting!  So, it’s time to get back to what I love- pictures, blogs, and photo shoots!

You may notice you’re looking at my BRAND NEW BLOG (if not, you should work on your observation skills)!  Things aren’t perfect quite yet, but I can be pretty picky so I’m sure it will be awhile before they are.  I had so many great new ideas, branding, and website plans that got put on hold that I decided this new blog could be just the thing I need to get things started again.

With all things undergoing construction there are bound to be some kinks.  One of the major ones is the unsuccessful integration of my old blog posts on the new blog.  Well, the posts are technically here, but the images are not.  So until that is all worked out you can always see all the old entries at the old blogspot. (You can find the link above in the menu)

In the coming days I have lots of amazing images to share!  One more post from Nevada and then tons of great images from Paris, I really can’t wait to share those!

Vegas Recap : Day 5

Wednesday was a nice slow, low shooting day and went a little like this -

Cinnamon Rolls (thanks Maya & Pat!)
Stroll through the last day of the tradeshow
Yumminess at P.F. Changs with Cailyn, and Chris & Allie
Some free style dancing in Urban Outfitters
Penny slots at the Paris
Delicious dessert at the Paris cafe
Ending the night with some good housemate convo and editing

Also, remember the sweet Miss Jessica from the Neon Boneyard shoot? Well I mentioned she recently had a big record release, and have some more info to share.

Jessica, known to her fans as J* Smith has a great myspace page you can check out with everything you need to know. You can also listen to her song “My Body”, which admittedly had me dancing 15 seconds in. So click here and show her some love.

Dale Benfield put together this video of all us [b] schoolers when we got together in Vegas out near Red Rock. Thanks Dale for doing that, sometimes I get so caught up in shooting the “subject” I forget about everything around me really being the subject.

I realized two things from watching this video. First, I make a ridiculous face when I’m shooting. It’s like an extremly scrunched face with a smile added in, eek! Second, I should not where a bright green jacket when everyone else is wearing black, I don’t pull of “incognito” and it’s not exactly flattering.

Regardless, the video rocks, check it out.

Vegas Recap : Day 3

In general when you go on vacation you remember to pack your camera, and when on a business trip you remember laptops, important papers, or whatever it is that is relevant to work, right? Apparently when I go on a trip that is a business vacation I get a little confused on how that all works. I obviously remembered my big camera for shoots but it slipped my mind that the week would contain a plethora of social events and I should double check that the little camera I carrying in my purse has a charged battery, or at least bring a charger with me!

Seeing as I didn’t do either of those last two things, I had to rely on my housemates and fellow photogs to document the “vacation” aspect of the trip. So, thank you to those that have been uploading photos and tagging them on facebook, next year I promise to do better.

Monday morning Cailyn and I got dressed in our black and white and headed over to the MGM for the first day of the tradeshow to work the Shootsac booth. It never crossed our minds while working to grab a picture, or it might have but the booth stays so busy that at the end of the day our mouths were dry from talking and we just wanted to get out of there and put up our aching feet and down some water (or in Cailyn’s case, Cranberry juice).

So thanks to Chris and Allie who walked by at somepoint and grabbed about 5 seconds of footage on their Flip. This is a screen caputre from their video, which you can see on their blog. Let’s just say, I must have been really into whatever Allie was saying!

UPDATE: it has been pointed out that there is a spelling error in the following image, i’ve never won any spelling bee’s so i’m not surprised but i will try to be more on point when typing in photoshop!

After we headed back to the house and had found our energy again it was time to head out to the [b] school party over at The Palms. The party was up in the famous REAL WORLD suite. I’m not going to lie, I felt a little like a rockstar when we approaced the elevator and we weren’t even allowed on before checking to make sure our names were on the list.

Here we are (Maya, Pat, Chris, Allie, Cailyn & I) in the phone area. MTV did a great job filming the show, that space is tiny compared to how it seemed on tv. Photo by Candice KausHagen.

Here we are again in the official [b] party photo booth, with the addition of Cathy Crawley in the middle. I ordered this print and am anxiously awaiting it’s arrival, I have the perfect frame waiting.

I’m a little dissapointed I made a promise I didn’t keep. I said I would be updating while in Vegas and didn’t follow through. To my credit however, I kept pretty busy shooting and soaking in knowledge (ok, and having a bit of fun), so in my down time I tried to relax a bit.

Vegas Recap : Day One

I was scheduled to fly out early from Dallas Saturday morning, with plenty of time to attend a mini workshop, the KISS shoot, with the Boudoir Divas but not all goes as planned. After multiple mechanical problems and switching to a new plane I finally made it to Vegas, and we touched down just as the shoot was scheduled to end. As frustrated as I was, I was excited for my first WPPI experience.
I met up with Allie and Chris on the strip for a little lunch before we went to pick up the rest of our housemates from the airport. Can I just say right now, my housemates were pure greatness! Instead of rushing off to blow money on overpriced restaurants on the strip we all took a field trip to a near by fresh foods grocery and stocked up. Cailyn, my awesome roommate for the week, fixed some delicious pesto pasta and Chris rocked the grill with some Italian sausage.
Then of course we took in a little of what the strip had to offer, lights, fountain shows, and guys shoving nudy cards at ya!

I should also add that Chris and Allie are awesome bloggers and there is an entire VIDEO recount of the week (go back a page to start from the beginning). I am by no means forcing any one to watch, I’m just saying… it’s there, I’m in them, they make me laugh. For their blog click — HERE.
